Computer Professionals (Registration Council of Nigeria) [CPN] and National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) have restated their commitment towards stamping out quackery and promoting excellence in IT practice in Nigeria.
The two foremost Agencies of government made this commitment when the CPN President/Chairman-in-Council, Prof Charles Uwadia led a delegation of some members of Council, the leadership of Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) and elders of IT industry on a courtesy visit to the Director - General of NITDA, Dr. Isa Ibrahim Pantami in Abuja on Monday, February 19th, 2018.
At the parley, the two Agencies committed themselves to a better and harmonious collaboration and partnership in order to deliver on their mandates, and especially address the issue of failed IT Projects by the MDAsall over the country. This will be done by understanding the capacity and capability of companies handling IT projects in MDAs before approving them to carry out any IT project.
The Director-General of NITDA re-emphasized the fact that his Agency will continue to work with CPN. This is based on the known fact that CPN has the mandate to register IT professionals (Individuals & Corporate) and also keep a database of qualified and competent IT Practitioners that can handle government gigantic and multi-billion Naira projects in the MDAs.
It may interest you to note that CPN and NITDA have also agreed to further establish a harmonious working relationship through the constitution of a standing Committee which will ensure that things are ironed out properly and done professionally as they may arise.
The Council therefore implores all IT Professionals to kindly drop all agitations, arguments and discomfort you may feel and look at the benefits this partnership will bring to our noble industry.
